Recent Woodturning
My latest turning is a Segmented Vessel constructed from Bishop Wood (Bischofia javanica) harvested in Sarasota, FL. I designed the shape for a low-slung profile.
I started the vessel in January of 2024. I cut 289 pieces of wood and glued them together into rings which I then turned on the lathe to my desired shape. I completed the construction a month later. I used a beading tool to create each row. I then burned the vertical lines to create the divisions. I came back to it in March of 2026 to complete the painting. It is black and gold paint on red hued wood.
The vessel is 15” in Diameter and 8 ½” tall.
